Hypo = low / glyc = glucose / aemia = of the blood
Abnormally low blood sugar, generally below 3.5 mmol/L or 65 mg/dL. This can be due to a number of reasons:
- Too much insulin either being produced by the pancreas, or injected as treatment for diabetes.
- Too little glucose entering the blood stream due to not having eaten for too long or for having eaten inappropriate foods.
